Clay Family Extreme Home Makeover
Dear Boyz,
After much prayer and planning on the Serving Saturday leadership's part, the Waterboyz for Jesus are ready to step out in faith on another EXTREME Home Makeover. These come along occasionally (our last one was well over a year ago), often when it is least convenient and they are always VERY unexpected. God usually only shows us enough of the project at the beginning so as not to scare us off. He seems to do this as a way of building our faith and showing us His all surpassing Greatness is enough. This time it seems He has shown us more than usual……….. we think!
If you want to join us there are many ways - showing up and helping - providing meals for the workers & family - financially (no doubt this is beyond our means) - so pray and see where you fit!
There will be all day onsite supervision on Friday (Sept 24th), Saturday (Sept 25th), and Saturday (Oct 2nd) starting at 8am. There will also be onsite supervision every day from 5pm until late into the night. If you are available at times other than these let the appropriate point person know and we can make arrangements to get you in and resource you to be productive. You can come and work as long as you can whether that is a couple of hours or all day. COME!
In HIM,
Paul

Here is the 'why' in this God-Adventure:
A waitress at Tom & Ray's in Damascus knows about the Waterboyz because we have two 10MAN tables meeting there during the week. Somehow she meet Eric Closs and putting two-and-two together asked him if we would consider helping a friend of hers - Sharon Clay in Mt Airy. Eric got the information to Bernie Thompson - our Serving Saturday leader who went for a visit. Afterward he contacted me and said, "Paul - we HAVE to do this one! The family is in desperate need, Sharon is the most humble grateful women you could meet, and we were created for such a time as now! Let's do it!" Everything in me was stirred up while Bernie was talking to me - the Spirit was a strongly felt presence. I felt strongly the words "AND SO IT BEGINS!"
Here is the Clay family story: Sharon's husband, Mark, is bed ridden due to MS, feeding tubes, constant care; Her 14 year old was hit by a car on Route 27 about 4 years ago and suffered head trauma and the healing has been slow. Her daughter is living with the family and has her own battles. Sharon can't work because she can't leave her husband's side for fear he will aspirate. The home they live in is a townhouse which is owned by Sharon's dad.
The house needs LOTS of repairs to the three bedrooms, bathrooms, stairways, Mark's (the dad) bedroom, and the kitchen. We have checked with Sharon and they are willing to move into the Boston Inn in Westminster for a week (1-2 rooms) but she needs a hospital bed to properly care for Mark. We've checked with the Motel and they are willing for us to do that. We will need to get them meals each day they are there.
Sharon is a lady of great faith and deep gratitude in spite of her circumstance. After our initial conversation Bernie and I have continued to pray about this and we have a deep sense that "THIS MUST NOT STAND!" There is much to do and we will need each one of you to re-read the opening paragraph and see what song God wants to sing, and what story He wants to tell through YOU.
