Waterboyz for Jesus was founded in service of the bypassed and the forgotten. We don’t do drive-by service, we put the kickstand down and stay awhile. We believe a community where the margins and edges are erased is on the horizon for Frederick and beyond. S.W.A.T. (Servants with a Testimony) advances the Kingdom of Heaven with each family served and relationship built. We are compelled to serve for one reason and one reason only…

What is S.W.A.T.?

Community service projects from simple yard maintenance to extreme home makeovers

We provide labor free of cost, including skilled trades (plumbing, electrical, craftsmen, etc)

We coordinate two dedicated service days each year, called Fostering Love, where we complete 25 or more projects on the given day.

Other projects are planned on an as-needed basis or in response to crisis situations.

We partner with local churches, Department of Social Services, local businesses, and local non-profits to identify families to serve, identify in-kind donations for materials, and supplement the Waterboyz volunteer base.
Who do we serve?

SWAT projects target people who are underserved, under-resourced and often invisible within our community with no criteria of race, creed, religion, or political affiliation.

Many of the families we serve fall within the ALICE threshold (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed).

Our historic focus has been foster families, single parent families, special needs families and the elderly.

We do not accept self-nominations. Families are nominated through Department of Social Services, Community Partners, Church Partners or through the Waterboyz network.

Pat
Pat has four kids and was barely able to put food on the table, let alone make the needed repairs to his home to keep it safe for the kids. His wife had a mental break and tried to flee with the kids across the country. DSS came in to assess the situation and found the house unlivable. Pat didn't have any support system and the kids were going to be taken.
DSS contacted Waterboyz to step into the situation. We replaced broken windows, replaced all flooring, re-painted the home, repaired the well so the water was clean, and performed yardwork at no cost to Pat. Additionally, Waterboyz provided parenting skills workshop courses to Pat. The end result: "Waterboyz allowed me to keep my children in my home and gave me a support system."

Denise
Denise had recently lost her husband and was caring for her three children. She met a Waterboy by chance who asked if we could help in any way. We performed multiple service projects for her family including painting the exterior of her home, landscaping to prevent basement flooding and yardwork.
After seeing the group of men begin painting her home, she said "I feel like the woman at the well. I’m going to get my neighbor to see this because I am witnessing the hands and feet of Jesus!”

Kathleen
Kathleen is a single mom of nine who went through a difficult divorce, which had left her and her kids reeling. She didn’t have the ability to keep up with home repairs or general maintenance. She was nominated for a SWAT project, and Waterboyz came in to complete all her yardwork, repaired the deck and removed fallen trees on the property.
Kathleen said “seeing the SWAT team working alongside my son with special needs showed him that he’s needed and loved.”
The SWAT team lead has kept in touch with Kathleen and Waterboyz continues to actively find ways to serve her family.
